About learning with pictures

How does Picture Chinese work?

Choose any picture scene, click an object to reveal its Chinese character or word, then use Explore or Challenge mode to practise.

What information appears for each picture?

Each selected object shows simplified Chinese, tone-marked pinyin, an English meaning, and a short Chinese and English explanation.

Can I learn specialist Chinese with picture scenes?

Yes. The library will grow from familiar scenes such as a kitchen and classroom to focused scenes for professional and specialist vocabulary.

How are scenes ordered?

The default order starts with easier Chinese characters. You can also sort the library by English title or pinyin initial when you want to find a particular scene.
